As some of you may already know, GLYNNIS JAYNE LYONS, DO
is a women. Born to Glenn and Evelyn Lyons in Uniontown, PA, November 22, 1953. Dr. Lyons was educated in western Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Biology. She attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and studied Human Nutrition in the School of Public Health. Finally Dr. Lyons attended medical school at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. She came to Largo, FL immediately following graduation and finished her internship and training in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties in Florida.
For the next 15 years Dr. Lyons maintained a private medical practice in the Town N Country area of Tampa but also continued to moonlight as an ER physician and at Urgent care facilities. About the turn of the new millennium Dr. Lyons became tired of being the lone ranger and decided to look for a multi-specialty medical practice to join and be a part of something bigger than her-self. It sounded like a great idea and in fact things did materialize that brought her to the Monterey Medical Center where we are located now. The practice she joined, Monterey Medical Healthcare didn't last and she ended up on her own again. So now she is forming her own little cottage industry to be known as "LYONS MEDICAL".
Her other interests in life include computer technology, sports, especially college and NFL football, swimming, music, metaphysics, orchids and other exotic plants and dogs, (1 in particular). And just about anything socio-economic and political...don't get her started.
She sees patients of all ages and both sexes and is very much interested in helping you achieve your health goals. Everyone is treated with respect and dignity and given as much personal time and attention as possible. Sometimes we go over board and that is the most common criticism as well as compliment that we get about the practice. Some people are insulted by the wait times. We are actively working to try to solve this problem. We are aware of it and invite you to reschedule if you see that time is no longer feasible for you. A lot of times these things can't be helped. People's problems are sometimes way more complicated than they realized and sometimes it requires our immediate attention so please be patient and try to let us know if you have serious time constraints...We are not a walk-in clinc but sometimes patients do walk-in sick and we try to accommodate them too. But remember we will do the same for you.
Melinda Carson, P.A. is our brand new physician assistant. She is a recent graduate of Nova Southeastern University. We chose her because of her intelligence, compassion, and sweet personality. She is actually a Martin County girl, born and bred here and she wants to stay! We hope she will be happy with us and you for a very long time. She is also a Florida Gator and taught biology for a brief stint at Jensen Beach before returning to school for her medical training.
Joshua Littell, L.M.T. is our very own in house massage therapist. He is excellent and works on the doctor every week to keep her healthy and grounded.
